FOVC is committed to helping the communities we serve impact a larger segment of the population through community development projects. Our future projects include educational development through libraries and learning centers. Also, sanitation, hygiene, and environmental development through bringing clean water wells to areas of extreme need.
We recognize that in order for community development projects to be successful, the community members must be invested in the projects. This means listening to the community as they identify needs and making sure they have some ownership over the projects. For this reason, we strive to hire local labor for our building projects and purchase supplies locally when available. When a community comes together to build a project for themselves they are able to take pride in the finished product and have a sense of accomplishment. Because they are invested in the project, the community is likely to continue to support and maintain the finished project.
